God’s Saying

If I have a legend
I have had no part in it,
It has been made for me.

But I shall not stoop to contradict it.
The matter leaves me indifferent,
And the world has need of fables.

What am I?
I am a being
who dreams in his room.

I do not trouble about the fate of my dreams.
I do not allow myself to be bothered by the row,
the admiration, or the anger that my dreams may provoke.

I must derive my
delight in dreaming
from my mother.
